Andrew Flintoff signs up to ‘Barclays Fan of India’ Competition

andrew-flintoffEngland cricket superstar and Manchester City fan Andrew Flintoff is the latest celebrity to back the ‘Barclays Fan Of India’ competition, the search for the most passionate supporter of the Barclays Premier League in the country.

Fans have until Tuesday 9 June to enter the contest, which has already seen hundreds of entries flood in from across India. The winner will receive a trip to the UK to watch a Barclays Premier League team of their choice play during the 2009/10 Barclays Premier League season, and ten runners up will win a Barclays Premier League team shirt of their choice.

Powerful all-rounder Flintoff was at the City of Manchester stadium today, lending his support to the competition. He said: “I’ve seen for myself that Indian fans are incredibly passionate about sport, and it’s great that so many have already entered the ‘Barclays Fan of India’ competition. The Barclays Premier League is the best league in the world, and I’d encourage fans from across India to sign up before the closing date of 9 June for a chance to win the fantastic prize of a trip to England to watch the team of their choice.”

The Barclays Premier League is the most popular domestic football tournament anywhere in the world, with over 4.77 billion people watching it in over 200 countries. It also has many of the top players including World Player of the Year, Cristiano Ronaldo.
