Statistics Show that UK Residents Care About Home Insurance
The fact that the United Kingdom had the highest search volume for home insurance across the world in 2009 could mean that current insurance providers in the UK are not living up to consumer expectations.
Residents want to know that their home insurance policy is going to cover them right at the time when they need it the most. For many it is often too late, after the fact, when they find themselves thousands of pounds out of pocket, when they had in fact thought they had a comprehensive insurance policy.
These days, it is honestly not worth the risk of ‘hoping’ that you will be fully covered in the case of an emergency or property damage and theft. Residents want the best cover they can get, they want it now, and the evidence shows that they will indeed look around and switch providers if they are not fully satisfied.
For this, residents in the UK really need to be given a pat on the back, as they are showing the rest of the world that they are not going to be fooled anymore by second rate insurance companies. They are investing the time to research the available options carefully and they are also obviously reading the fine print with scrutiny.
If we break the search down to identify the particular cities within the UK that are being the most forward thinking when it comes to insurance, Edinburgh has taken the top spot! It is, however, followed very closely by, Birmingham, Manchester, Sheffield and Reading. Source: Google Trends 19/01/2010
One possible school of thought relating to the statistics of home insurance, could be the increase of homes being built in the UK over the past few years. People are taking up residence in these areas and are looking to ensure adequate insurance on their valuables within the home, as well as the physical building and surroundings. As these areas become more populated as time goes on, you will find that queries and interest in top quality home insurance will rise even higher than they already are.
That being said, residents will still need to keep a watchful eye on premiums, as 2009 has shown that they can fluctuate frequently. Increases in premiums may have had an impact on the statistics, and again, it is the residents who are making that commitment to finding out as much as they can about their home insurance, and selecting insurance companies that can offer the best value for money in these uncertain times.
