Climate Change – how you can make a difference
Buildings account for 50% of all greenhouse gas emissions, and the building sector account for upto 40% of global energy use. This represents a challenge and an opportunity for us all. By some conservative estimates, globally buildings could reduce emissions by 1.8 billion tonnes of C02 – about three times the amount targeted by the Kyoto Protocol. GreenSpaces is a project of 1.75 million ft2 built up area. Its current design saves 74.4% energy over a standard ‘A’ grade building and our mission is to achieve + 80% by reshaping the way commercial buildings are designed and built.
It will demonstrate that the energy footprint can be economically reduced from 40% to 10% of global energy usage, and serve as a model for all buildings.
We believe that today’s technologies can cost effectively achieve these energy savings, but need to be discovered. We have launched the ‘GreenSpaces Challenge’ so that people worldwide, can contribute, creative and innovative ideas, products or services that will reduce cost and improve energy efficiency.
Chosen technologies and collaborations will be showcased in this reference project and will be available for the benefit of mankind.
It is an opportunity for all – students, engineers, scientists, researchers, suppliers, architects and you.
Join us in this global challenge and make a difference. Participate in the conversation that will change the way future buildings are built and help preserve the earth for generations.
