The Small and Medium Enterprise Agency (a government agency of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Japan) starts second “Everything Japan Shop” to test-market selected luxury Japanese art and craft products in India
After the success of the first Everything Japan Shop and a lot of public demand, the SMEA opened its second test shop on 11 January 2010, in South Mumbai at the most central location right in the centre of the lower level of Palladium mall in High Street Pheonix Mills at Lower Parel. Palladium Mall is considered to be India’s best address for luxury and premium brands. The products on display are attractive high-end luxury Japanese art and craft products chosen specially for the Indian consumer.
The shops are already seeing a lot of footfall and strong interest amongst the visitors and are increasing awareness of Japanese products and services in the city.

The products on sale ranges right from typical wooden Japanese dolls to beautifully hand-crafted traditional laquer-painted Titanium cups.
“There are 4.69 million Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), constituting 99.7% of all enterprises in Japan, accounting for 70% of all employment. As such, the SMEs are able through this project, to appeal their products directly to the Indian consumer.” said Mr. Harry Cheng, Director, Maidoindia which is into the business of brining Japan closer.
These products were selected by a Committee led by Ms Reshma Jain, Managing Editor of the Indian Luxury Magazine, Marwar in a selection process arranged extensively in Japan in late October 2009.
The shops are on a test-market basis and will be operational till end of February 2010 at both the locations.
