This year, the BSA is launching their one hundredth year of scouting.

To celebrate Scouting in Western New York, the Greater Niagara Frontier Council is hosting a 100th Anniversary Gala. The Gala will be held at the Hyatt Regency in Buffalo on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 6:15 pm. Local attorney and Eagle Scout, William Mattar, has been chosen as the Chairman for this celebration. “The skills that I have acquired from Scouting have served me throughout my entire life,” says Mattar. “I am honored to have the chance to give back.”

Locally, the BSA has been instrumental in creating a foundation of leadership, service and community for our youth. Since its beginning, more than one million young people from WNY have participated in their programs aimed at introducing Scouting to tomorrow’s leaders.
