Full Sail University (fullsail.edu), an award-winning entertainment media institution, is proud to recognize Digital Arts & Design Bachelor of Science Degree Program Instructor, Ken Bowser, who was selected to create this years poster design for the 51st Annual Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival (wpsaf.org), which was unveiled during a ceremony at Casa Feliz on February 4, 2010.

After numerous sessions on Park Avenue to capture the energy of the environment, Bowser created a 22”x 28” mixed media piece consisting of several different techniques and disciplines, including a series of compositional studies followed by color temperature studies in pastels. The final piece was the result of a line drawing and a comprehensive color rendering culminating in a six-gig color corrected final. This is the first time the festival has allowed a digital piece to be used for the poster design.

Along with being one of the nation’s oldest and most prestigious juried outdoor art festivals, the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival is one of the largest, with more than 350,000 visitors attending each year. This year, close to 1,200 artists from around the globe applied for entry where a panel of independent judges selected 225 artists to attend the show. The festival, which is run by an all volunteer board of directors, has been applauded for promoting both Art and Art Education in Central Florida by The White House, The National Endowment for the Arts, and Congress to name a few.

“Having the opportunity to be an instructor at Full Sail University allows me to share my knowledge and passion for excellence in the area of Digital Arts & Design,” said Bowser. “It was an honor to have been chosen to create this piece for such an important legacy in the Winter Park community, while showcasing the importance of design through this creative avenue.”
