Does the mere thought of studying math give you nightmares? Has your school life become a constant battle with complex math problems? Do you often fantasize about living in a math free world? You are not alone; all over the world math evokes extreme reactions from students. While some seem to love cracking complex math problems, there are others who hate the mention of the word “equation”! So, if you belong to the latter category, the following step by step program could be of help to you-

Step 1-Identify your problem

Do you fear math because your basics are not clear? Do people (parents, teachers or peers) tell you that you lack the ability to excel at math? Do you ever tell yourself you do not have the ability to do well at the subject? The answers to these questions will help you understand the limiting or negative belief which has turned math into a fear evoking monster for you.

Step 2-Make a conscious effort to solve your problem

Your beliefs are the result of your conditioning; this includes what you have been taught and told. For instance if you were not lucky enough to find a good teacher who could explain math basics to you, you would grow up to the fear the subject or if after an initial failure you were constantly told that math is not your cup of tea, you may eventually start believing it.

Therefore you will need to de-condition yourself and learn new beliefs which give you the confidence that you can excel at any subject if you put your mind to it. Positive affirmations can help you achieve this goal. Repeat the following affirmations to yourself as often as you can:

“I have the ability to understand and solve math problem”

“I have the power to excel at any subject I chose”

“I approach learning with an open mind”

“I now release all my negative and limiting beliefs”

These affirmations will help you change your present attitude towards math and motivate you to work had towards learning the basics of the subject.

Step 3-Work with your subconscious

Our subconscious directs our so called “natural behavior”. Things like saying hi when you meet someone or putting your hand forward to shake hands, which you seem to do “unconsciously”, are actually behavior patterns which are embedded in your subconscious. Our consistent thought patterns or repetitive actions (such as using the word hi! to greet our peers or disliking math) become a part of our natural and unconscious behavior.

Subliminal messages can modify our behavior and enhance our learning and studying as they have the power to influence our subconscious minds. Subliminal messages when used repeatedly can not only Re-Program your mind into a peak state to study but also make you enjoy studying math, so instead of viewing it in a negative light you will get excited about your studies and really want to do your best – and this drive will take you a lot further with your math.
