FMS STUDENTS DO THEIR BIT FOR A SOCIAL CAUSE

New Delhi, Delhi, July 14, 2010 /  A group of ten students who belong to the SIFE team of Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi presented an unlikely vision in the slums of Delhi on Tuesday. These students from one of the top ranked business schools in India are helping the Banjaras to grow their business in a structured and systematic manner.

As a start to a big project, these students provided them with basic financial knowledge ranging from opening an account to saving money to obtaining a loan. The financial literacy programme is a first step for this social cause. The students worked in co-ordination with representatives from RBI who were also present to give out their valuable knowledge. Booklets on financial knowledge were distributed by the RBI and the students, which contained simple and invaluable financial knowledge. There was also an interactive puppet show on “BheemaBachat and Budget”. This programme was sponsored by the financial literacy grant of HSBC awarded to the FMS SIFE team.

SIFE (Students In Free Enterprise) is an international network of students, academics and business leaders.SIFE mobilizes university students around the world to use the knowledge gained in the classroom to address real world business and economic issues in their communities. The SIFE project was started by VIHAAN, the Social Service Cell of the Faculty of Management Studies. Vihaan has been a promoter of Social relevant projects and activities all year around and works closely with various NGOs
