South Africa Need to Wait for Two Decades to Host Olympics Games
Despite an immensely successful event of 2010 FIFA World Cup, chances of South Africa to host the prestigious Olympic Games in the near future are quite rare. According to an IOC official, Africa will not be able to host the Olympic Games for the coming twenty years.
Chairperson of the IOC’s coordinating committee for 2016 Rio De Janeiro Olympics, Nawal El Moutawakel stated, “There is a huge amount of work to be done besides political desire, hence the experts’ view that any realistic chance for (hosting the) Olympics in Africa is between 2030 and 2040.”For more information, you can log on to http://www.2010olympictickets.net
She also said, “I have read studies by some universities specialising in the Olympics who gave Africa between 2030 and 2040 to host the Games and that is a very realistic chance because Olympics is a different ball game.”
She was the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics hurdles champion. She is also the chairperson of IOC’s coordinating committee for London 2012 Olympics. Moutawakel is currently in the Nairobi as the member of the organizing committee of 17th African Athletics Championship. She said, “I know South Africa did a wonderful job with the FIFA World Cup, right from the airport, going into the Johannesburg city and suburbs in wide smooth roads, to world class hotels and wonderful facilities in all the cities.”For more information, you can log on to http://www.2010olympictickets.net
